  1. WE JUST LOST OUR YORKIE IN MARCH HE WAS ALMOST 17 YRS OLD .LOOKING FOR ANOTHER BUT DON.T HAVE ALOT OF MONEY WHAT CAN WE DO?

  2. Hi All! Happy Wednesday.
One of our community members asked:
“I paid $900 for a Yorkshire terrier I was told it was a purebred but I have concerns that he is not . should we have a DNA test on him to prove that he’s not a purebred to get my money back . What percentage is deemed purebred”
What do you think? What suggestion can we give her?

    1. Unless you plan on breeding him it does not make a whole lot of difference except the cost. So do your DNA if you want and go from there, but do not stop loving the wee one who came into your life, they are a stubborn joy🤗. My daughter has a 14 year old o
Yorkie, looks just like yours and she is 100 percent Yorkie . Mine is long legged, big eared bundle of joy. Enjoy your journey with him.

  3. Hello! I have a yorkie that is 7 years old. Often in the evenings when she is laying on my lap or someone else’s and someone comes near me to give me a hug or lean over me she will growl or aggressively bark at them. Regardless of who it is. It only happens in the evenings. The other day we were all sitting around the kitchen table playing a game with about 8 other people and she was asleep on my lap. My sister was sitting to my left and her 7 year old son jumped over between us on to his mom and the dog immediately jumped up lunging at him and aggressively barking. I grabbed her right away. She has never bite anyone in any of these scenarios but I have always grabbed her right away. She is an absolute wonderful dog and that loves being around people and children and this has only ever happened when we have been around my family. I’m not sure what to make of this and was hoping you could help. It very much scared all of us, especially my nephew. Thank you in advance!

    1. I have a night-aggressive Yorkie, as well. Yorkie’s are extremely protective of their humans and often they favor just one if it’s a multi-human household. We got my girl at 2 years old as a rescue (she’s now 5) and she’s only now really sharing her affection between my mother and I. Although my mother is her primary companion during the day, while I’m at work, London considers me her alpha, so nighttime can be problematic. Or I should say, it *was* problematic. We have changed our behavior by avoiding the situations the seem to trigger London’s protective impulses, such as showing each other affection through hugs or pats – which is hard! My family is naturally affectionate and hugs are common. London will growl and bark and try to nip if anyone, including Mom, gets too close. What likely happened with your nephew is that your dog was asleep and was startled by the sudden movement and noise and was naturally trying to protect you from the “attack”.

    1. Check with area rescues…….where we live, the rescues check with the humane society to remove small dogs from the scary pound. They also have older souls orphaned due to illness/old age of owners……we have adopted two senior yorkies and it is a mixed bag……they are lovable and demanding, as you well know…….ALSO-they are OFTEN a mix………we have a Chorkie and a Wauzer…..both rescues……..both were adopted out as yorkies………mixes are usually better pets, anyway….

  4. MY LITTLE TEA CUP ANGEL IS 10 YEARS OLD AND IS HAVING TRACHEAL SPASMS WITH SEPERATIONANXIETY TERRIBLE SHAKING. WE LEFT HER ALONE FOR A FEW HOURS!!SHE IS AN EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG AS I AM DEAF AND MANY OTHER PROBLEMS!! WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP HER? WITH THE OLD LAWS ALLOWED ME TO TAKE HER TO MALLS HOSPITAL APPOINTMENTS RESTAURANTS SHE IS VERY WELL BEHAVED AND LOVES EVERBODY!!!!!NOW I AM LIMITED WHAT CAN I DO ???

    1. That’s the problem they have. bennie’s was all black. My neighbornfounf one on the stairs where she worked. she also has a larger one like I do. I miss Bennie!

    2. I would suggest trying to provide her with more distractions. Have you tried leaving on the tv? When I go to work I put on dog tv on Utube for her. I also got stairs for the window, so that she can see outside. We are on the fifth floor and birds even come sometimes to sit in the ledge. There are also interactive toys that move around and make noise, web cams that you can talk through that dispense treats, and even products that roll a ball if the dog drops it in the top. You can also put peanut butter or treats in a Kong or other dog treat releases to distract her when you are leaving.

      1. I recommend rescue remedy by Bach’s is a natural flower liquid with a dropper you can give it straight to her or place it in her water, also there are radio stations specifically for separation anxiety, ask either google or alexa to play it for her. I would recommend finding someone that can come and stay with her for about half an hour if you are spending the whole day out. This is what I did with mine.

  5. Hello,
We am looking for a Female Yorkie pup or eventually two. We lost two this year, old sisters 16+ years old about 6 weeks apart. We live in a beautiful home with lots of room, yard fenced to protect our dogs(we wouldn’t move in until the fence was right for our girls.) Our girls got the best of care, were spayed, chipped, and even went to the dentist from the San Diego Zoo., and lived inside our home as part of our pack. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! And we don’t have any children in the home but occasional visits from the grand children. i have been watching the pound but the dogs are generally big, and I don’t want a pit bull. I sure don’t want a puppy mill Yorkie either…
Thank you in advance for your time and help.

    1. Have you tried Euro Puppy? I work oversees and we got our Yorkie from them in Hungary. Very professional service.

  6. my son found my Yorkie walking down an alley. The guys wife hated him so I got him free. Just had to put him down and I’m heart broken. I have a larger one that I love, but I miss Bennie. They don’t live long and can have health problems, but I miss my little guy.

  7. I have a 8 yr. Yorker that regurgitates every evening and it is clear mucous, sometimes. Has anyone experienced a similar issue, and are there any recommendations on this problem?

  8. Help!! Purchased a male yorkie puppy. He is 3mths old and I am so frustrated with potty training. I have praised, given treats, take him out every hour, take him out after he eats watch for signs and he still pees and poops in the house. Tried a bell on the door which I jingled every time we went out. Nothing seems to work. That and the fact that he thinks it is play time when I try to catch him to go out. I am so close to getting rid of him. But we really do love him!! Any suggestions, please!

    1. Have you tried an indoor potty? Because Yorkies are so small this is really a viable option. We have a product called pet loo in our bathroom, and our Yorkie puppy adjusted pretty quickly to using it.

    2. Please hang in there, in reality you can expect a puppy to be trained so easily, they are like children, would you give away a child if he/she was taking too long as well? Pee pads are the best, being enclosed inside a playpen or a crate is the best. Make sure they are large enough for a pad folded in half, water, toys and a bed. Normally.a pup will need to go out every half an hour at about 5 mos they get it. Also you can spend time with him locked in a small room with a gate and wait until he goes in front of you then lots of praise. Meanwhile keep cleaning supplies close by. Also male pups are harder to train, there is a pee pad tray that gives them the ability of raising their leg, it’s best he has that soon.

  9. Cherrie, we just adopted our new little Tiger. He is the love of our lives. My husband and myself are retired. Our son and grandson come over every day to play with Tiger. We could not have gotten a better and more wanted dog from a breaker. To know that this little one was taken away from his mommy so early is sinful. We got him at 6 weeks and 3.2 pounds. He is now 8 weeks old and weighs 4.5. He is so lovable and cuttlefish in our laps. He plays and has slept in his own bed in our room since day one. If you could find one at a shelter to love it would be great. You would be saving it’s life. We had a corgi before for 11 years. It took us a year and a half before we could come to terms to want another puppy. Give yourself time. Just keep looking and God will have a special little one for you when it is time. Take care and be safe.

  10. I had a Yorkie that my recent husband that I married after my husband of 53 years passed away. Anyway he did not like my Yorkie and made me give her away. Now I am getting rid of my husband and want another Yorkie. Can you help me find one that will not cost losts of money please.

  11. I have a yorkiepoo and she is just at 6 months old tomorrow, what should I be looking for when she starts her monthly cycle being in heat. I also have a Yorkie male and he is 7 months old from different litters how should I handle this?

  12. Our 4 month old Chocolate Yorkie loves chewing on an ostrich knuckle (we get them from the pet shop). He lies quietly and chews for ages (has not chewed anything else in our home). How much chewing is acceptable. Will it grind down his teeth if he chews for too long?

    1. I spoke to our vet about the ostrich knuckle and he says its fine as long as Bailey (puppy) doesn’t get fixated on it. No time limit (so up to an hour is fine), however, once he’s finished chewing put it away. If left out he will become bored with it. Another suggestion is to keep two in circulation, that way there is added interest when you bring them out. Keeping them in the deep freeze is also fine, it keeps them ice cold which helps itchy gums. Added bonus if he’s chewing on his ostrich knuckle he isn’t chewing on our hands or on the furniture or other items.

  13. Hi everyone! I want to buy a white Yorkshire terrier for my child! Could you tell me the price please! Thank you and have a lovely day:)
